The Trump administration wants to give insurers more than a month’s extension on filing rates for 2018.
In a draft notice posted Friday, the CMS said it would revise rate filing deadlines for all plans currently selling products on the Affordable Care Act’s exchanges.
The deadline for filing applications and rates has been delayed from May 3, 2017 to June 21, 2017.
Insurers have said there’s too much uncertainty surrounding a replacement for the ACA to decide whether to stay in the individual insurance marketplace created by the healthcare reform law. After an exodus of some of the biggest insurers on the marketplace, remaining plans have said they wanted to see some changes to help even out the risk pool before they decide — some by March — to continue to sell plans on the exchanges.
